The Manual of Style is a style guide for all articles in Shatter Me Wiki for the sake of consistency and neatness.

Formatting[]

Tenses[]

For all articles, present tense is mandatory for anything that occurred from Shatter Me and forward. This includes Shatter Me,Unravel Me, Ignite Me, Unite Me, and Restore Me. For instance, in a character article, the "Early Life" section of their biography must be in past tense because it happened before the events of Shatter Me. Present tense includes articles that are out of universe.

Spelling[]

The Shatter Me Wiki accepts both British English and American English, however the usage of esoteric words are not allowed. For example, the word "grey" is a commonly known spelling variation of the American version of "gray". Or the word "realize" is a known spelling variation of the word "realise".

Manner[]

Formal writing is required for editors. This means no slang or improper grammar unless it is from a quote. This also means there is no usage or first or second-person narration. For example, do not use the words "I", "we", "you", "you all", etc. Do not include personal opinions. Those are reserved for forums or the comments section.

Article Titles[]

Article Titles for Characters[]

  • They must include both the first and last name of the character. Instead of "Adam", name the article "Adam Kent".
  • Name the title what they are more commonly called. In this case, Juliette's first name was "Ella Sommers" before she was adopted, however she is referred to as "Juliette Ferrars" throughout the series. If a character were to marry and adopted their spouse's name, the title of the article would remain their original surname as it was what they were called in the series.
  • Even if the character comes from a culture where they are referred to by their surname then first name, the order should be first name then surname. This does not apply to articles on real-world people.

Capitalization[]

  • Editors must adhere to capitalization rules for titles. This means that words such as "the", "a", "with", etc are not capitalized unless they are the first word of the sentence.
